Spanish Driving Licence

I have a paper European English Driving Licence which is due for renewal in October - does anyone know what the current regulations are for getting a Spanish Driving Licence - I went to Guardamar about 18 months ago and had the medical done etc. Do I need any forms or passport photos etc.

La Marina

Was given this info myself from a friend:
A certificate of psychophysical aptitude issued by the Authorised Drivers Check Centre (Centro de Reconocimiento de Conductores Autorizado) with one photo. This certificate is valid for a period of 90 days
Application and application fee
Two passport-sized photographs
Photocopy (and original) of a Spanish residence permit (Residencia) or a copy of the passport along with the NIE number (Número de Identificación de Extranjer)
Proof of address in Spain dated within 3 months (empadronamiento) available from the local Town Hall
Signed self declaration in writing that there is no legal process pending nor licence suspension that forbids the right to drive
Signed self declaration in writing that no other licence of the same category is held
The forms you get from Trafico in Alicante
Hope this helps

If you go to the Phycotechnic in Calle Doctor Marron In Almoradi. You go the back road towards San Fulencio take the todas dirreciones road, follow that and go over the roundabouts until you come to the road which is first right off the roundabout to Almoradi. When you get to the next roundabout keep going towards Almoradi until you come to a petrol Station on one side and a Renault garage on your left. Keep going past the school and if you park up here you can walk to the Phycotechnic which is on the right by the traffic lights. They open Tuesday, wednesday, thursday and friday afternoons about 5 0.clock. They do everything for you and send it off to traffico. There office is on the first floor of the apartment building. Good luck.

Would be interested to hear back of any one else doing this and how long it took.

They take your photo for you as well. My friend renewed his and it took about 2 weeks to come back. My husband has always used the one in Almoradi but he has not had it renewed by the new system yet. I am going to do mine in about 6 months and that is where I will go.
