LA MARINA BOWLS CLUB
I am now the Clark Kent (Superman to all the Ladies) of La Marina Bowls Club as I have now officially been given the job of reporting all what happens at the Bowls Club, My first official duty is to thank Phil Morris for his 8 years of excellent reporting a hard act to follow but I will do my best.
Saturday Morning off early to Calpe for the 1st Leg of the annual Parlamar Trophy, The weather was good and the Calpe Bowlers were very friendly, After the Match we went to the Restaurant at the side of the Bowls green to have a very nice lunch and a few drinks. Maureen Kidd won the Bottle of Brandy for winning the Spider.Rex kept us entertained (did not think much of his singing) but the moment Maureen opened the Brandy we did not see or hear from him again.
We shared the match two rinks each.Winning rinks Hillary Cronk, Richard Robinson, Chris Lomas, Skip Bill Jamieson Won 21-16. Viv Zelin, Arthur Cronk, Derek Shirley, Skip Brian Zelin Won 21-10. The other two Rinks were very close but just missed out.Shot Difference was Plus 12 in La Marina's favour, Now we look forward to welcoming Calpe to La Marina for the second leg sometime in the new year.
Wednesday Morning fun day was won by Ron Chadwick, Marie Smith, Skip Richard Robinson, With a Plus 11 Score. Well done to the 3 of them.
The Valencian Championship has now started and I am sure that all of La Marina Bowls Club would like to wish the best of luck to everyone that has entered it.I will keep you all informed with any results that I am given.
First report that I have got is that Jim Manning & Brian Murray narrowly lost in the Quarter Finals in the Men's Pairs,

the lovely Mr Smith would like to play bowls. He had a little experience in UK when he was between wives (that's another story) but doesn't own any bowls. Can he hire some if he comes along. I know he'd love to have a go.

Perhaps someone from the Bowling fraternity would be kind enough to reply with an answer for the above post ie Mr Smith.
So far it seems that bowlers are a little shy about the forum and only like placing news in the local papers. It’s a shame as there are a lot of bowlers up here on La Marina and I bet there is a lot of chit chat and interesting action that goes on.
